In my experience I have a greater affinity for the urban landscape than the natural one. I can’t really say why this should be. It may be that it is a constant reminder of the human, rather than a divine, creative spirit. This is of course debatable and that is not my purpose here. Suffice it to say that when faced with the many facets of a modern conurbation I know always where to point my lens, in the wild not so much.

There was the temptation in making this photograph of eliminating the links of the fence completely. I decided against it because including the links, but keeping them defocused, emphasizes the nature of graffiti as an essentially forbidden act often accomplished in areas that are restricted or normally inaccessible as a part of the process.
